JACKALOPE - Hagstone - 64 Inch - Hybrid Bow - 25-45 lbs

The JACKALOPE Hagstone series of bows are perhaps some of the most striking you've seen from JACKALOPE to date. While the innovative SRF Macassar wood - a highly stable combination of several layers of wood and epoxy resin - gives the grip its distinctive appearance with clearly visible layers and stripes, it is the color scheme in black and white that gives the Riser its characteristic look, reminiscent of its fascinating namesake. The Hagstone - in German: Hühnergott - is an extraordinary natural phenomenon and is considered a lucky charm. The flint with the hole washed out awakens the hope for luck, which no one can escape. This hope is also what drives every archer to hit gold with the next shot. Each bow is unique and underlines the personal individuality of each archer.

Of course, it is not only the look and the name that captivate, also the finesse of this type of bow - the hybrid bow - know quickly convince! No wonder, it combines the best of two worlds: Recognizable at first glance as a traditional longbow, where, for example, the string touches only the tips, but not the limbs, it is, however, with 64 inches a little too short to be a "real" longbow. However, it makes up for the lack of size with the typical characteristic of a recurve bow, the clearly visible reflex-deflex shape in the limbs, and thus, cleverly combines the characteristics of a longbow with those of a recurve bow. The result is a compact, forgiving bow with a particularly soft draw length, very good throwing performance, optimal arrow speeds and an almost complete reduction of vibrations in the grip.

The grip area provides a pleasant level of comfort when shooting. The palm rest is well shaped and the grip as a whole is designed to be slightly less contoured to fit better in the hand. The shelf, is clearly pronounced in its curvature and slopes more forward than other bows. Thus, it offers the arrow less contact surface and yet optimal guidance when shooting. The limbs are made of bamboo and black glass, with the bamboo wood visible only as a thin strip on the sides, framing the grip area with its warm brown tones and running through the limbs to the tips. All this together makes the JACKALOPE Hagstone recurve bow fast, forgiving and very quiet to shoot.

SPEED - Carbon for even more speed

In the Speed versions, the JACKALOPE Hagstone is now even faster! An additional layer of carbon improves the already good-natured characteristics of the bow again. It makes the bow more forgiving and provides a tighter and more accurate hit pattern when shooting. But how does it achieve this? Quite simply, the carbon insert not only makes the limbs lighter and more torsionally rigid, but also about 10fps faster.

Right or left-hand?

Determination of the draw hand

The draw hand is the hand that pulls the string. This means that a right-hand bow is held in the left hand and pulled out with the right hand.

The determination of the personal draw hand has far less to do with whether one is left or right-hand than one might initially assume. Rather, it is a matter of determining the dominant eye. The dominant eye is used for targeting. This automatically results in the draw hand.

The term "dominant eye" refers to the eye the visual information of which superimposes everything. If a shooter would try to aim with the other eye, he would have to pinch the dominant eye.

There are two ways to determine the dominant eye: On the one hand, it is the eye that is generally preferred, for example when looking through the viewfinder of a camera, through the spyhole or similar situations. On the other hand, there is a small exercise with which the dominant eye can be determined beyond doubt:

  • The arms are stretched out and with thumb and index fingers of both hands, a triangle is formed.
  • The triangle is used to target a small target, such as a power socket or a cabinet knob. This object is focused.
  • The hands are now slowly moved towards the face without the target being taken out of focus.
  • The triangle of thumb and index fingers will automatically incline to one half of the face and the dominant eye will lie within it.

If eye and hand dominance do not match, the bow should still be selected according to eye dominance. The arms can easily be trained on the new draw hand, the eye cannot.
