Description

DRAKE ARCHERY ELITE Ablaze - 62 Inch - 30-50 lbs - Hybrid Bow

Ablaze - The word for something that is on fire or glowing is more than appropriate when looking at the DRAKE ARCHERY Ablaze! This powerful bow is not really on fire, but its orange-red colouring with black accents makes it look as if it is glowing. The particularly eye-catching limbs, which have a bamboo core and are covered with clear glass, make the colour and grain of the wood stand out and give the whole bow something unusual and almost spectacular.

Of course, it is not only the very interesting colouring that is convincing about the Ablaze, but also the mix of materials and the shape. The grip area, for example, is made of Dymondwood, an innovative, highly stable material made of several layers of wood and epoxy resin, which absorbs vibrations and allows for faster, smoother shooting over the rounded shelf. As modern as this material is, it does not deny its basis and leaves the naturalness of the wood clearly visible.

In addition to its fascinating appearance, the DRAKE ARCHERY ELITE Ablaze also impresses with the finesse of its bow class. No wonder, as a hybrid bow it combines the best of two worlds: At first glance it looks like a longbow, but at 62 inches it is clearly too short to be a "real" longbow. However, it makes up for the lack of size with the typical characteristic of a recurve bow, the clearly visible reflex-deflex shape in the limbs, and thus cleverly combines the characteristics of a longbow with those of a recurve bow. The result is a compact bow with a smooth draw, high arrow speeds and an almost complete reduction of vibrations in the grip. As is usual with a traditional longbow, the string of the hybrid bow does not touch the limbs, but only the tips.

The result is a compact bow with a particularly soft draw, very good throwing performance, optimal arrow speeds and an almost complete reduction of vibrations in the grip.

Right-handed or left-handed?

Determination of the draw hand

The draw hand is the hand that pulls the string. This means that a right-handed bow is held in the left hand and drawn with the right hand.

Determining your personal draw hand has far less to do with whether you are left-handed or right-handed than you might initially assume. It is much more about determining the dominant eye. The dominant eye is used for aiming. This then automatically results in the draw hand.

The term dominant eye refers to the eye whose visual information is superimposed on everything. If a shooter tried to aim with the other eye, he would have to close the dominant eye.

There are two ways of determining the dominant eye: On the one hand, it is the eye that is generally favoured, for example when looking through the viewfinder of a camera, through the peephole or similar situations. On the other hand, there is a small exercise that can be used to determine the dominant eye beyond doubt:

  • The arms are stretched out and a triangle is formed with the thumbs and index fingers of both hands.
  • A small target is aimed at through the triangle, for example a socket or a cupboard knob. Focus on this object.
  • The hands are now slowly brought towards the face without taking the target object out of focus.
  • The triangle of thumb and index fingers will involuntarily tend towards one side of the face and this is where the dominant eye is located.

If the dominance of the eye and hand do not match, the bow should still be selected according to eye dominance. The arms can be easily retrained for the new draw hand, but not the eye.
