Description

At home in nature! - The JACKALOPE Obsidian Hunter - Recurve Hunting Bow

Those who call nature their second home and consider the bow parcours one of their favorite places will have true joy with the JACKALOPE recurve hunting bows from the Hunter series, the perfect companions for adventures in forests and the heath. With a length of 60 inches, the bows are compact and powerful enough to be agile and fast in the thick forest.

The JACKALOPE Obsidian Take Down is handcrafted under finest European craftsmanship from high-quality and innovative materials. The 15 inches long riser, for example, is made of two completely different types of wood and thereby receives its unmistakable character. The front part, facing away from the shooter, is made of black-grey Teknowood, an ultra-modern material consisting of several layers of wood. The rear part, facing the shooter, in contrast to the front, is made of beautiful and durable amazoque, a tropical wood that is particularly appealing because of its warm colors. The limbs are made of spiderwood, specially selected for bow making, which is covered with black glass. All of this together makes the JACKALOPE Take Down bows fast, forgiving and very smooth when shooting.

Another detail, perhaps not so obvious in its perfection, are the hand-cut transitions from the riser to the limbs. The riser merges perfectly into the limbs, which makes you forget that this is indeed a take down bow made of three parts. Noble design can also or in particular be seen in inconspicuous details after all.

As innovative as the bows are, as extraordinary the name is! The Obsidian is a gemstone with very special characteristics that are not insignificant for archers at all. That way, this elegant, black stone made of lava glass not only protects you against negative energies, but also helps to achieve your personal goals. It enhances your perception and strengthens inner peace as well as patience. A very well-picked choice of name for the flawless JACKALOPE Obsidian bows.

SPEED - Carbon for even more velocity

With the Speed variants, the JACKALOPE Obsidian is now even faster! An additional layer of carbon further improves the already excellent characteristics of the bow. It makes the bow more forgiving and provides more accurate groupings when shooting. But how does it do that? Very simple: The carbon inlay not only makes the limbs lighter and more torsion resistant, but also about 10fps faster.

Right-handed or left-handed?

Determination of the draw hand

The draw hand is the hand that pulls the string. This means that a right-handed bow is held in the left hand and drawn with the right hand.

Determining your personal draw hand has far less to do with whether you are left-handed or right-handed than you might initially assume. It is much more about determining the dominant eye. The dominant eye is used for aiming. This then automatically results in the draw hand.

The term dominant eye refers to the eye whose visual information is superimposed on everything. If a shooter tried to aim with the other eye, he would have to close the dominant eye.

There are two ways of determining the dominant eye: On the one hand, it is the eye that is generally favoured, for example when looking through the viewfinder of a camera, through the peephole or similar situations. On the other hand, there is a small exercise that can be used to determine the dominant eye beyond doubt:

  • The arms are stretched out and a triangle is formed with the thumbs and index fingers of both hands.
  • A small target is aimed at through the triangle, for example a socket or a cupboard knob. Focus on this object.
  • The hands are now slowly brought towards the face without taking the target object out of focus.
  • The triangle of thumb and index fingers will involuntarily tend towards one side of the face and this is where the dominant eye is located.

If the dominance of the eye and hand do not match, the bow should still be selected according to eye dominance. The arms can be easily retrained for the new draw hand, but not the eye.
